About Us

Country GOLD 93 is a country music radio station focused on playing the best of the '80s and '90s for the American Farming Simulator community. Our studio is within the owner's home and our primary mode of broadcast is through internet stream. Currently, we are the only radio station aimed at players of Farming Simulator.

History
Country GOLD began operation on September 3rd, 2001 as 1610 AM KLX Radio in Beaverton, Oregon. At that time, KLX was an all-talk radio station for children and the family. The programming was ... childish as you might say. Broadcast was rather sporatic, being whenever the owner, then 6 years old, wanted to talk. Eventually, as the owner grew older and became familiar with radio stations and their programming, the format gradually shifted to country music.
In the summer of 2002, KLX Radio moved from Beaverton to Hermiston, Oregon. During the move, the station was still undergoing it's change over to a country format. During the move, KLX aquired a personal computer so that the station would be capable of running while unattended. It was at this point KLX began full time operation. Eventually, a new microphone and our first mix board (capable of two microphones and two input channels) were added to the mix.
Shortly following the move, KLX signed on the air on the frequency of 96.3 FM in addition to 1610 AM. Not long after the FM began broadcast, the station cycled through several call letters, going by KLX-FM, KWIP, KKID and KOHU-FM before settling on KGH-FM. The FM station bagan operation as a simulcast of the AM station. By the time KGH was fully established, it was running a separate all country format.
Halfway through 2004, KLX moved again, this time remaining in the city of Hermiston. Shortly after the FM took on it's own programming, the AM became a simulcast of the FM. During the move in 2004, it was decided the AM station would not return to the air, making the FM station the primary and only focus. At this time, the call letters reverted back to it's original KLX-FM. Coinciding with the move, the frequency changed from 96.3 to 99.5 FM.
Following the move, KLX entered a period of mixing '70s and '80s country music with it's library of '90s and present music. During this time, KLX used the slogan of "The Home of Country Hits and Yesterday's Favorites". During this time, the logo for KLX Radio changed and it became KLX-FM, replacing "Radio" with the "-FM" sufix.
After a time, KLX began planning on re-designing the main studio. As the studio was being re-built, the station also aquired a larger mixboard and transmitter. Once the studio was completed, KLX underwent their second major imaging change, this time going by the name "99-5 The Mouse". During this era, the station flipped to a country christmas format, going by "99-5 The Christmas Mouse". Depending on the year, the format was either all christmas music or half christmas and half regular country music.
On January 1st, 2014, The station made it's most recent overhaul due to an FCC station shuffle to accomadate a new station on the 99.5 Frequency. During this time, the station became "Country GOLD 93" The call letters and frequency were changed to 92.9 KFS-FM. While the station is still covering the Hermiston area, it's city of license has been moved to Laney.
